We're Back, with a live 5K race for 2020. Things will be a little different this year, but this is a live, timed race.
About this event
We're back... This was supposed to be the 10th Running of the Monster Dash, with a big pre and post Halloween Party. COVID 19 has changed that a little, so we'll call this 9.5, the Corona Edition and save the party for next year.
The good news... The Monster Dash will be a live race. Sure, there will be some health and safety protocol to ensure the safety of participants and volunteers, but IT'S A LIVE RACE.
Messages will be sent to registered participants with updated race day guidelines as we near the day of the event.
A few changes to note:
- As always, costumes are encouraged...specifically costumes with masks this year.
- We will be running a 5K only this year. The 10K and Kid's Monster Crawl will not happen this year.
- Registration for the 5K Live race is limited. Register soon before we're full.
- There will be no race day, walk-up registration.
- We will not have packet pick-up before the event (race bids will be assigned on race day when runners sign in). This will aid in proper social distancing helping us accurately time the race.
- Because there will be no packet pick-up, we will have a day scheduled post race to pick up shirts and finisher medals.
- We are asking for no sponsorships this year. All of our sponsors are local businesses and many have been financially impacted by the pandemic. We want our businesses to survive and thrive. We'll ask for their support again next year for our 10th Running Special Event.
- Because there are no sponsors, we will not finalize our order for shirts or finisher medals until we have an accurate count of runners.
- Masks will be required, except for while running. We will provide disposable masks to be worn to the start line where they may be thrown away before the start. Another disposable mask will be provided when runners finish that they can wear until they leave the race area or retrieve their own mask.
- The race will start in waves of 25-50 runners, depending on the current recommendations at race time. Waves will start in three minute increments and will be based on your bib number (example, bibs 1-25 will start on the clock, then at 3 minutes, bib numbers 26-50 will start). Runners will be guided through the finish line and on to the exit gage where they may wait on their party or leave the facility.
We know these are some major changes, but we've developed these so we can have a live race that maintains appropriate social distancing and focus on the health and safety of our runners and volunteers.
For those that would prefer to run this event virtually, a virtual option is available in the registration page.
Please note, no pets will be allowed on the track.

All proceeds from this event are used to provide adoption grants to families. This year, there are five families in our local area/region that we are seeking to support with grants toward their adoption costs.
