Event description

Description

Join us for a pub crawl event to celebrate Monroe County's bicentennial and to raise funds to support the renovation of the Alexander Memorial. It will be a night of libations, food, historical insight, and music!

The Pub Crawl is a guided tour to five of Bloomington's finest establishments - bars with a rich history in Monroe County and establishments located in historic buildings.

The ticket price of $ 85 includes drink samples, snacks, unlimited soft drinks, entry into Bluebird (musical performer: Fat Pockets) and a special gift package with limited edition souvenir items, including a commemorative T-Shirt (you will be asked to indicate T-shirt size on the reservation page). Taxes and gratuity are included.

Check-in at the Courthouse between 6:15 and 6:45 pm for check-in (indoors if the weather is inclement). Groups will embark to a series of locations: Crazy Horse, Irish Lion, Nick's and Alchemy. The combined group will gather at the last location of the evening - Bluebird - at 11 pm. There will be special guests and surprises throughout the evening!

Attendees MUST be at least 21 years of age. IDs will be checked at the beginning of the evening. Additional alcoholic beverages may be purchased at any of the establishments.

This is a rain or shine event.

Guests should plan to walk between locations, but if accommodations are needed, please note them on the reservation page. NOTE: the establishments in historic buildings do not necessarily meet ADA guidelines of the present day. To access historic venues, guests may need to navigate a few steps to a stairway.

A very limited number of tickets are available.

NOTE: If you reserve your ticket through Eventbrite, credit card processing fees will be charged. You may instead reserve your ticket with a cash or check payment at the Monroe County Commissioners' office (at the Monroe County Courthouse, Room 323: 10 am to 2 pm Monday through Friday). Please ensure that you know the t-shirt size for each guest.

BACKGROUND:

On June 22, 1818, the first lots in the newly-formed town of Bloomington were sold at an auction. In preparation for the auction, the Monroe County Commissioners ordered the purchase of a barrel of whiskey for the day of the auction. A whiskey barrel, donated by an Owen county barrel maker, is on display at the courthouse. The pub crawl event commemorates the sale of the first lots in Bloomington, 200 years ago.

This is a fundraiser to support the renovation of the Alexander Memorial on the southeast corner of the Courthouse lawn.
