We are excited to present Local Project's very own Board President, June Kosloff for our online fundraiser.
"Monoprinting with Heroes & Poetry"
June will teach a simple monoprinting process using 4 colors of paint( acrylic best) on paper or on any surface available in your home.
The session will be broken into parts. June will discuss about a hero that served as an inspiration in her life, artmaking and how she incorporates it into her artmaking process.
Her inspirations are Monster by Eminem and Helen Frankenthaler painter . She will lead a short discussion at the beginning followed by a demonstration on how to make a simple monoprinting and free association poetry method to create a finished piece.
Flexible supply list for the workshop:
- Paper- bristol or another smooth surface paper of any kind
- Acrylic paint but watercolor will work if not
- Pencils
- Wax paper from the supermarket- for printing -- if not a few options: saran wrap (dont touch your supermarket plastic bags if you have any :(
- Acetate or duralar will do as well -
- Tracing paper
- Brushes and a roller if you have it - dont need a roller
June Kosloff is a mixed media artist and curator based in LIC, Queens. June attended the HS of Art & Design in NYC, holds a BALA from SUNY Purchase, and studied at the Arts Students League. As an artist, June’s work encompasses a variety of media including, but not limited to silkscreening, monoprinting, painting & drawing.
June is a former music business executive with over 15 years’ experience in marketing, sales, and artist development. June has worked with the Verve, Ben Harper, Iggy Pop, Blur, David Gray, John Hammond, Cracker, David Bowie, Janet Jackson, Gorillaz, Massive Attack and more.
In 2004, June curated “The Lubinsky Experience” in 2004 at Local Project, and her art adventures began. June officially joined the LP Board in 2010 and has curated multiple visual arts exhibitions since 2004. She produced the Music Under the 7 series from 2011 through 2016. In 2014, and co-produced the studio CD Crossroads, featuring emerging poets and musicians from all over the globe.
Her work is in private collections. Additionally, June is the executor of her late Uncle Dick Lubinsky’s art, which has been shown at Fountain House Gallery, Outsider Art Fair, American Visionary Art Museum, Erie Art Museum, and is in numerous private collections.
