Actions and Detail Panel

Event description
Monolith # by Roel Heremans is a 15 minute Interactive Sound Experience for 4 visitors.

About this event

Monolith # is a new work by the Belgian transdisciplinary artist Roel Heremans.

In this participatory experience for four random participants, Heremans invites you on a mental journey through headphones.

A voice guides you through thoughts and movements. The text raises questions about the sociological consequences of social media algorithms and briefly brings you back from digital to real life.

At the centre is a mirrored monolith: a reference to the many mysterious monoliths that have appeared all over the world in the past year and also an invitation to a contemporary sensory ritual.

Roel Heremans is a transdisciplinary artist who works with sound, imagination & neurofeedback.

In most of his works, he composes audio fragments that stimulate the visitors' imagination in order to create compelling group experiences.

As a result, visitors become simultaneously actors, witnesses, performers and re-enactors of mental and physical thought and movement processes, where collective performances meet individual responses and vice versa.

The installation is activated every Saturday and Sunday in June, July and August from 13:00 till 18:00 in Gare Maritime, Rue Picard 7, Brussels.
