Course Description: (audio and video recordings are not permitted)

This social media course is a hands-on, interactive course wherein attendees use online tools to gather, monitor, and analyze social media content. The course is taught in a fully interactive environment so attendees can view social media tools and data in “real time.” The course will cover specific tactics and methods used in various situations from crisis response to investigations. Each attendee will be provided a list of resources with which they can return to their work sites and begin immediately to track and analyze social media data.

Social Media is the new mode of communication. We eat, laugh, love, and cry through our social media experiences. We also plan, coordinate, execute, and destroy all with a hashtag. This session will bring to light many of the methods used to protect your businesses, respond to disasters, and mitigate damage when you become a target.

Topics:

The Real Time Social Media

  • Infrastructure Protection- Seeing the pre-indicators and stopping the threat
  • Crisis Response- Locating victims, vectoring resources, and saving lives
  • The art of the 4Ms- Monitor, Manage, Mitigate, and Move!

Social Media Presence

  • Information Security- Is your policy sound, fair, and enforceable?
  • Unified Front- Are you all on the same page?

Pre-Indicators of Online Radicalization

  • Targeting- Not “if”, but “when” you are a target
  • Mitigation- Public Relations and the art of attack
