Margaret Vinci has been a member of the Caltech seismological laboratory staff since 1993, and is the Manager of the Office of Earthquake Programs and the SoCal Regional Coordinator for the ShakeAlert Earthquake Early Warning System. Margaret serves as SoCal Regional Coordinator for ShakeAlert and the engagement of technical partners and end-users of earthquake early warning. She was a member of the committee that created the Great California ShakeOut in 2008 and has since been providing emergency preparedness workshops, trainings and presentations to empower residents, employees and businesses to be self-sufficient when disaster strikes. She serves as one of the SoCal Regional Coordinating Chairs for the Earthquake Country Alliance to promote community resiliency and coordinate the Great ShakeOut each year; founding member of the Pasadena Fire Department Disaster Advisory Council serving as Map Your Neighborhood Coordinator; long-time member and previous Board Member of BICEPP (Business and Industry Council for Emergency Planning and Preparedness).
