Event Details

Mark your calendar for May 10th at Auto Vino.

The Mongabay Executive Board is raising money in support of, the world’s most popular rainforest information site and a well-known source of environmental news reporting, analysis and educational resources. Mongabay's coverage of key tropical rainforest issues has strongly influenced major government platforms around the world, corporate sustainability strategies and inspired world renowned artists.

Help Mongabay continue its amazing work by attending the first ever, inaugural fundraiser.  For our first event we decided to go local with everying.  Enjoy amazing locally sourced wine and appetizers made by Bay Area artisans, explore our unique venue Auto Vino which boasts a winery, rare collector car storage facility, cigar vault and hear stories of adventures in rainforest journalism from Mongabay's founder Rhett A. Butler.

Gifts will be available for further levels of donations:

  • $25 buys 2 books about rainforests for school children in Peru
  • $50 funds a story written on Mongabay Indonesia
  • $100 helps train an Indonesian journalist for a day
  • $250 funds an environmental news story
  • $1K funds an in-depth story on a key rainforest issue
  • $5K funds a series of 10 stories on a topic or an in-depth, in-the-field investigative piece
  • $10K funds 6 months of reporting by a journalist in Indonesia
  • $25K funds an environmental journalism prize
  • $50K funds a full-time reporter for a year
