Mr. Phil Pommier was a practicing professional civil engineer for 34 years. As a professional engineer, he regularly gave presentations for marketing and client deliverable purposes. He’s also presented at local national professional societies and to groups of over 300.
Throughout his professional career, he invested regularly in a 401k. On retiring three years ago, he became aware of BetterInvesting. BetterInvesting methods and research tools impressed him so much that he volunteered to be a local chapter director. Today he is Director of Member Relations for the Portland Chapter of BetterInvesting. His goal is to share his BI experience with others, especially younger professionals, to help them improve their investing knowledge and skills.
Mr. John DuFrene is a finance professional and lifelong investor. He held senior positions in the Oregon Department of Revenue, the Oregon State Controller's Office, and became CFO of the Oregon Public Employees Retirement system retiring from that position in 2014.
While working in the public sector he developed a keen sense of awareness of the need for lifelong financial edcuation, with a strong focus on managing personal financial affairs and investing. He is a Director of the Portland Chapter of Better Investing and is President of the Portland area Model Investment Club.
