Event description

Description

Featuring the world premiere if a new commission with music by Robert Seeley and lyrics based on the writings of Robert Espindola.

Modern Men: Coachella Valley Men’s Chorus, based in Palm Springs, under Artistic Director Dr. Stan Hill, will present a new composition specifically commissioned for their performance at GALA Festival 2020 in July 2020 in Minneapolis. Composed by Robert Seeley, with lyrics from the writings of Robert Espindola (1952-2016) and scored for men’s chorus, string quartet, piano and oboe, the work delivers a passionate perspective of the achievements of the LGBT movement and projects the MOMENTum of the dreams and aspirations of the future, inspired by the movement’s history.

Inspired by the treasure trove of the writings, poems and lyrics left behind by Espindola, the rapturous music will lift every heart and spur the continuation of one of the most dramatic and important movements in history.

This premiere work will be presented along with other important and inspiring compositions like Who I Was Born to Be, To Those Who Came Before Us and I Want More Life.

Whether in the delicious resonance of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, or our new home, Palm Springs Cultural Center (Camelot Theatre), this unique and talented chorus of dedicated men, will share the community’s struggles and achievements.
