A time to raise awareness about the high-quality care that helps patients and family caregivers live as fully as possible.
Greater Rochester Area Providers of Hospice, a consortium consisting of Heartland Hospice, Mayo Hospice, Seasons Hospice, and St. Croix Hospice, will be hosting an educational event on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m – 2 p.m. at Zumbro Lutheran Church to help the community understand how important hospice and palliative care can be.
This event is part of National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. In November, hospices across the country are reaching out to raise awareness about the highest quality care for all people coping with life-limiting illness.
Schedule of Events:
9 - 10:30 a.m. Hospice 101
Provides an overview of the basics of hospice and examines common misconceptions about hospice care.
10:30 - 10:45 a.m. Break
10:45 a.m. - Noon Alternative Therapies (music, massage, pet)
Provides an overview of the various therapies designed for comfort as directed by the patient's individualized plan of care.
Noon - 12:15 p.m. Lunch (pick-up)
12:15 - 1 p.m. Bereavement Panel
Our panel of bereavement experts will discuss this essential component of hospice care that includes anticipating grief reactions and providing ongoing support for the bereaved.
1 - 2 p.m. Testimonial Panel Discussion
Hear directly from family members and loved ones who have experienced firsthand what makes hospice special.
