Event Details

Join the NRDC SF Council and Protect Our Winters along with directors and film producers for a special screening of "Momenta" followed by a live Q&A with NRDC climate experts and representatives from POW and the film's creators who will discuss how coal is killing snow and drastically affecting climate change.

Enjoy beer, wine, snacks, and great company!

We're proud to feature The Town Kitchen and their delicious specialty dinner boxes that can be ordered separately and will be delivered to the screening with your name on it (taxes and delivery fee included)!

The Town Kitchen is a community driven food business that connects low-income youth aged 16-24 with local chefs and food artisans to build, box, and deliver prepared boxed meals to companies in Oakland and San Francisco. Their Community Lunchbox highlights our community through food. Every menu is designed by TK's chef, created by their youth workforce, and partnered with our local artisan food businesses. Each box includes a locally sourced main course (chicken, vegetarian, or gluten-free), dessert, and an 8 oz. drink

"Momenta" is a documentary focused on coal export issues in the Pacific Northwest. The film explores how Big Coal is making plans to extract billions of tons of coal from the Powder River Basin and ship to rapidly expanding Asian markets through proposed deepwater ports in Washington and Oregon. Mining and burning coal is the dirtiest and most environmentally destructive process to generate power – the resulting CO2 has a direct negative effect on climate change. Our mountain regions are in the cross-hairs of climate change and there are many coal hot spots in the backyards of our most famous mountain communities.

Protect Our Winters builds awareness throughout the snow sports community of the most pressing coal issues in our mountain regions to create a groundswell of community activism and action, to help transition away from coal in these areas to more renewable and clean alternative.
