Event description

Description

A museum docent will guide us through a private tour of the Modigliani Unmasked exhibition. The exhibition boasts over 150 works, some never seen in the US. This collection of drawings together with sculptures and paintings, unravels the complex identity of the artist. Amedeo Modigliani was Sephardic, half Italian, half french artist that arrived to the melting pot of Paris shortly after the tumultuous Dreyfus affair. As we view Modigliani's works, especially his iconic figures with elongated bodies and blank eyes, we will observe the modern and antique influences. After viewing the Modigliani exhibition, Ronnit Vasserman will share insights on some important works that are part of the museum's permanent collection in the Scenes of the Collection exhibition. On your own, you can leisurely view Veiled Meanings: Fashioning Jewish Dress. The assortment of costumes displayed demonstrates the diversity of Jewish communities around the world.
