Event description

Description

From Burning Man's first event in 1986 where a small group of friends met up at Baker beach & burned a 9 ft tall wooden man & smaller wooden dog -> last year's 70,000+ 'burners' from all over the world gathering in Black Rock City for an amazing art & music festival where boundaries & imagination are limitless, the creative art installations mind blowing, groovin' trascendent beats playing all night, and where the attendees are all about community, sharing, and experiencing the 'burn'.

Join us for a fun & interesting 'panel' with some amazing individuals from all sorts of different experiences, backgrounds, and more! PLEASE NOTE: capacity is limited for our 'panels' as we'd like for all of our guests to be able to meet and chat with both the panelists & one another in a more intimate setting.

They'll chat about their experiences, fun stories, words of advice, things to prep & more! If you've never been or if you're an OG burner, this fun & informative panel/gathering is for you as you'll get a chance to meet/reconnect with lots of others supporting the BM community.

From a 15+ year burner -> last year's Virgin burners -> those representing camps large & small -> founders of camps -> those involved almost year round in creation/setup & more... hear their crazy stories, words of advice, what to do, where to go, how to prepare & more!

Whether you're an OG burner or never been, this fun & interesting discussion is for you :)

Please note: NO VIDEOS or AUDIO RECORDINGS or publishing/social media sharing of quotes or commentary from the panel. This is a small group, free-form thought discussion. As the content is dynamic, we'd like to keep everything OFF THE RECORD in any official capacity so our members & guests may speak freely.

Most of the Panelists will be around after the panel and hanging out for our mixer too, so feel free to ask away!

Seth just exudes warmth, openness, community, passion & creativity. This is his 15th year in a row at Burning Man, where he's been co-creating and co-managing camps from 6 to 40 people in size. He & three friends co-founded & built the Disco Space Shuttle art car and launched a camp with the same name (7th year for DSS)

He's slept in everything from a backpacking tent, under a tarp between two cars, in the back of U-haul, and RVs. He's also whipped up meals for 40 people at one time up to several hundred people. Oh, and also managed events with professional/ international DJs on their art car.

Setup? Seth is your man - He's been involved in the build, strike, operations and year around planning for the camps that he's co-managed.

Toni Alejandria: Founding member Big Imagination/747 Camp

Toni is such a beautiful, wonderful soul - she's all about community building, giving, and great experiences via participation.

Toni's been involved year round with almost all phases of a camp from the ground up - building a brand new camp, art car fundraising, setup, helping run portions of the camp, volunteer management, logistics, community outreach events & more! She also helped lead fundraising efforts for Big Imagination, where they had the huge financial target to help bring the 747 to the playa.

Although she's only been 2 years - she's been surrounded by the Burning Man community more than half her life (from studying under professors in college who were devout burners *dance major in the Bay Area* to working at CIIS where the majority of the faculty and students are OG burners)

Find her & synch/dance along with her gracious smile & more.

Bitterella Klubgoer (Jim Martin) was born just south of Black Rock Desert in Carson City, Nevada and attended his first Burning Man in 1998. He has participated in the event 15 times since then. His first burn included two friends, a Ford Aerostar minivan, and an EZ Up™ tent he “borrowed” from work. His next few burns he went with a small group of friends who called their camp Same, Same, but Different. They experimented with various shade structure/geodesic dome designs, all of which were smacked to the ground by the wind.

Bitterella specialized in not enough water and a box of home-sewn and hot-glued costumes. During this time he served as a greeter, spanking newbies at the gate, and attended several of the early Burning Man “official” trainings.

By 2003 he had ditched the tent and minivan in favor of a rented mid-sized RV. By this time his camp evolved into Cuddle Princes Island (CPI). CPI hosted Bitterella’s first public events, Muumuu Mimosa Mornings.

In 2014 he camped with Five Ton Crane, an Oakland-based arts collective that brought art projects like The Steampunk Treehouse, The Raygun Gothic Rocket Ship, and The Nautilus to the Playa. Based on this experience, he committed to never visiting Black Rock City unless he was part of a large-scale art project. 2015 saw Bitterella working for months with Five Ton Crane on Storied Haven, a 30’ high interactive fairytale boot that was featured in Rolling Stone magazine.

Julianne Bonasera Zamir: A captivating free spirit who embraces experiences, opportunities and challenges alike.

A Virgin Burner Last year, 'Jules' did a walking 'camp' with her husband David & 5 of their friends, so a totally different experience/perspective than many of the others. Hardcore OG Burning Man in tents and no food for the first 24 hours, wow! They'll be camping with the lively & fully loaded tribe @ Ideate this year :
