Event description
Walking tour of Modernist architecture and urbanism in San Francisco's Chinatown as part of Docomomo US Tour Day.

About this Event

Better known for narrow streets lined with red lanterns and eclectic shops, Chinatown also has some of the best Modernist architecture in San Francisco, much of it designed by Chinese-American architects. Join Docomomo US/Northern California as we explore Chinatown—including the spectacular works of architects Clement Chen and Worley Wong, such as the Brutalist Hilton Hotel, the former Empress of China restaurant, and Buddha’s Universal Church.

We will meet on the pedestrian bridge at Portsmouth Square (that connects to the Hilton Financial District over Kearny Street). Access the pedestrian bridge via Portsmouth Square.
