Bring your Pinterest board to life, and make the luscious woven wall hanging you have been wanting! In the process of creating your new decorative artwork, you will learn weaving techniques and enter the meditative zone in working with this medium.
Our Modern Tapestry Weaving WebJam adds contemporary elements to a centuries-old tradition. This beginner-friendly online workshop will prepare you to create your own designs while exploring different elements that make your piece unique. Get a jumpstart on what will soon become your new favorite hobby!
In this CraftJam you will learn:
- What kind of materials are used in weaving
- How to start your weaving project
- How to warp and use a loom
- Tips and techniques on how to weave different patterns
- How to finish your weaving work
Need weaving supplies? Support CraftJam and its creative community and order a CraftJam Tapestry Weaving Kit! We will ship you the kit with all the materials needed to participate and finish your own unique piece. Choose from a selection of pink/red yarn or a selection of blue yarn for your kit.
Suggested supplies:
- Loom or cardboard loom - we suggest the friendly loom pegLoom
- Tapestry needle
- Warp yarn
- Wooden dowel
- Selection of yarn (various types- chunky, thin, roving, different colors, etc.)
- Ruler or tape measure
- Scissors
- Comb (optional)
- Knitting needle (optional)
And this is how a WebJam works:
After you purchase your ticket (and if selected a kit) via the Eventbrite link on this page, you will receive an email with a custom URL link to join. You will be able to add the event to your calendar. Reminder emails will be sent 2 hour and 45 minutes prior to the start. Make sure to login 10 minutes before the WebJam starts to avoid technical difficulties that may delay you.
While using Zoom we strongly recommend video participation. Unlike traditional webinars, we’re keeping our classes small and intimate. CraftJam was founded to foster community amongst its participants and part of this is seeing and interacting with each other as well as the option to receive feedback and support for your projects from your JamMaster.
