About this event
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at linocut printmaking but aren't sure where to start?
We thought so : )
Becky Pomp is Holland based artist whose lifelong compulsion to illustrate has led her into modern stamp carving, and in this workshop (designed for all skill levels and appropriate for artists age 10 and up) she'll take us through her process of sketching and then carving a small stamp that can be used again and again.
Your print could be a monogram, a simple illustration, or an abstract design for patterning- the sky is the limit. Becky will introduce us to the best materials and tools for home printmaking, and take us through the process of refining our designs, carving, printing, and exploring applications for our unique creations.
Each participant will leave with their own handmade prints, and the block they were printed from to use again and again. For those that want to continue to refine their stamp or to create additional designs at home, Becky will have supply kits available for purchase as well.
Your $60 ticket will include all the supplies you need to get creating and some delicious snacks to help power your efforts too. We're also offering the option to add on a $40 youth ticket during checkout for parents, grandparents, or guardians to attend with a child (ages 10-18) as your + 1.
A portion of our time together will be devoted to sketching our design. If you like to sketch from a photograph we'd encourage you to print a photo and bring it with you, or simply snap one on your phone for reference. You may also come with your sketch started or completed if you would like to have more time to work on carving your print. (This isn't necessary, but we just wanted to let you eager beavers know it was okay!)
Whether you've wanted to create some unique branding for a business, a bookplate design, or something special to add to letterhead--this workshop will inspire you to get started. We hope you'll join us on August 6 as we learn and create together.
about Becky Pomp
Becky Pomp is a Holland area illustrator, photographer, printmaker, and explorer. She has spent the last decade telling families' stories through photographs with BeeTree Studios, a business she launched in 2008. Becky is a multi-media artist with an art supply hoarding problem and aspirations to do everything. She lives in a noisy house with her husband, five kids, two cats, and too many plants. You can follow her artistic work and a whole lot more @pompsquad.
about your hosts and the glass house
It's our belief that we're all co-creators with a deep need to create and be known. As Mako Fujimura would say, our creating is an act of love. When we love, we create, and when we create, we love.
We've transformed a century old glass house into a space where we can experience the joy of creating in community. In doing so, we open ourselves up to the possibility of transformation into people of greater love and joy.
We've hosted many different types of workshops here: modern floral design, photography, relationships and the enneagram, acrylic and watercolor painting, and sourdough bread baking, sound baths, and more.
We look forward to creating together!
With love,
Chris & Becky
