Description

New Year. Mindful You.

If you have been interested in mindfulness or in developing a regular meditation practice but aren’t sure where to start, are confident that it would be really hard or can’t imagine how you would ever fit it into your already busy life, then this Workshop is for you.

You have probably already heard about all the benefits of mindfulness and compassion practice for living your best life. Neuroscience shows that it helps build our resilience, feel more calm, clear and confident, get better at relationships, develop self-appreciation and have better overall health and well-being. In our modern fast-paced society, the real life demands of work or studies and family, the constant distractions of technology, and life’s inevitable ups-and-downs have collided to create unprecedented levels of stress, reactivity and negative self-talk. Mindfulness meditation helps offset this but it takes practice.

You will learn fundamental science-backed mindfulness and compassion practices that have been studied at Harvard, practised at Google and developed at the University of California’s Centre for Mindfulness Studies. Through these practices you will explore your own inner space to tap into your innate capacity to be present. You will get clear on what living with intention means to you, learn how to get out of your own way, motivate yourself more effectively with self - compassion, and live deeply and happily right now.

This Workshop is every Thursday for four weeks (Jan 17 - Feb 7) from 7 - 8:30 PM. Each session will feature a mix of guided practice, pen and paper exercises and group discussion. The objective is to equip you with your own meditation practice that you can access at any time. We will do this in a fun and accessible way using clear language. This Workshop is also secular i.e. non-religious, and open to all.

If cost is a factor for you, please email hello@innerspacemindfulness.com to inquire about a full or partial scholarship.

Your guide for this course is Scheherzade van Aarle. Scheherzade is the Founder of INNERSPACE, a mindfulness teacher, speaker and activist. She has attended and completed a range of mindfulness training, including professional mindfulness training for executives, and she is a trained teacher from the University of California (San Diego) Centre for Mindfulness Studies. A former Government of Canada strategist she now serves as Mindfulness/Wellbeing Expert on the Advisory Group for the APEX (Association of Public Sector Executives) Leadership Symposium, and she also supports mindfulness in the House of Commons. Her INNERSPACE annual Peace Day mass mindfulness meditation on Parliament Hill has been attended by thousands. Having herself suffered from brain injury and serious illness she also supports mindfulness for rebooting after those inevitable setbacks.

“MIndfulness is not about taking a vacation from your life. It is about getting better at the life you have”
