Modern-Day Abolitionist Reading Group - Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery
Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Join us May 14th for Not For Sale Georgia's next reading group! We'll be discussing Amazing Grace, a biography on William Wilberforce, a forerunner in the abolition of the British slave trade. Wilberforce's strong convictions and unwaivering determination over a twenty year period culiminated in not only the end of the British slave trade, but also in the common mindset that slavery was a necessary evil.
"Taken all together, it's difficult to escape the verdict that William Wilberforce was simply the greatest social reformer in the history of the world...[He] presided over a social earthquake that rearranged the continents and whose magnitude we are only now beginning to fully appreciate." Eric Metaxas
This inspiring narrative is sure to spark conversation and questions about the modern-day fight on slavery and what is being done to eradicate the complex problem. Come and add your voice to the conversation!
The book is available on Amazon in paperback and electronic versions. This event is free but you must RSVP because space is limited.
We hope to see you there!
