Modern Classic Awards Event 2020
Event Information
About this event
The Awards Event
The Modern Classic Awards are going virtual! The event will be held on October 15th at 5:30pm. We will award the top designs and announce the winner of the raffle.
Last year, to raise money, we collected money for raffle tickets to give away an iconic piece of Herman Miller furniture. This year, we will be doing the same thing to raise money for the Philadelphia Cultural Fund.
Win a Crosshatch Lounge Chair
This years raffle to benefit the Philadelphia Cultural Fund is the coveted Crosshatch Lounge. Tickets will be $20 each and will be available on our Eventbrite event page.
The fine print: The drawing will take place during our virtual event and you must be signed in to win. The lounge chair will be made to order and winner will be able to select finishes. (Stain on ash wood, up to a grade 3 upholstery and cord color)
Charitable Contributions
This year, instead of a live auction for the completed pieces, you will have an opportunity to donate when you submit for your template, send in your submission or sign up to attend the live awards ceremony.
While this event is free to participate and attend, we recognize that a large part of why we host Modern Classic every year is to raise money for a local group or charity in need of funds. This year we have selected The Philadelphia Cultural Fund.
In addition to collecting donations at each step of the submission process as well as the during the sign up of the virtual event to take place on October 15th. We will also be announcing a raffle prize from Herman Miller Group as part of our virtual event. All monies raised from donations and ticket sales will directly benefit the grant fund at The Philadelphia Cultural Fund.
The Philadelphia Cultural Fund (PCF) was established in 1991 when Philadelphia’s Mayor and City Council authorized the creation of an independent 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to provide funds to enhance the cultural life and vitality of the City of Philadelphia and its residents.
The City of Philadelphia adopted a FY21 budget on June 25, 2020 that provided The Philadelphia Cultural Fund with $1 million; a reduction of $2.14 million reflecting a 68% cut. We understand that in challenging times there must be shared sacrifice, and we also know that our city’s cultural sector is vital to the fabric of our city.
In March of 2020, the Philadelphia Cultural Fund awarded grants totaling approximately $2.9 million to 349 Philadelphia arts and culture organizations. The deep funding reduction will result in a deep reduction in grants to the community.
