MODEL CASTING DAY fashion fest 2017

MAFB and Tropenmuseum are scouting 36 fresh NEW FACES for fashion fest 2017! Attend our exclusive casting day on Friday June 23rd at 12:00 in the studio of the Tropenmuseum. This one is gonna be extra special, because we invited our friends Said Mahrouf (January 2018 Mercedes Benz Amsterdam Fashion Week), Ajbilou-Rosdorff (July 2017 Mercedes Benz Amsterdam Fashion Week) and Afriek (lookbook) to help us. Models who're selected for fashion fest 2017 can also take part in the shows or lookbook of our friends! It's gonna be ace. We promise!

About Said Mahrouf

Moroccan-born Said Mahrouf received his master’s degree in fashion design at the Amsterdam Rietveld Academy and Pratt Institute (New York). He initially focussed on site-specific performances and costume design, but over the years his attention shifted towards fashion design. He started his own label SAID MAHROUF and participated in the 2007 edition of the Festimode-Casablanca Fashion Week. The first of many shows that followed! His aesthetics are minimalist and very feminine. Silhouettes that are created by draping techniques only to flatter the female body.

About Afriek

Afriek joins design with culture and craftsmanship. Creating an inspiring collection of hand tailored garments in cooperation with talented craftsmen in Central Africa. We invited Afriek to help us with the new faces selection. Models who are selected by Afriek can also be part of their lookbook.

About Ajbilou | Rosdorff

After their graduation at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU) Yasmina Ajbilou and Lynn Kate Rosdorff started Ajbilou | Rosdorff in 2016. Their label focuses on zero waste and sustainable fashion. The clothing industry is the second largest polluter in the world, with Ajbilou-Rosdorff they want to give an alternative to solving this problem. Showing that ethics and aesthetics can go hand in hand. Give an example of how you can change things for the better. Inspired by different places and cultures, they aim to connect everything and everyone through their label.
