A distillation of the great American novel Moby Dick by Beckett specialists Gare St Lazare Ireland. This production was first performed in 2009 and toured extensively.

Ishmael humbly tells the tale of his voyage, his meeting with Queegqueg, signing aboard The Pequod, and realising he has unwittingly joined the mysterious Captain Ahab on his vengeful mission to find and kill the giant white whale Moby Dick. Melville’s allegory is presented in all the glory of Melville's exquisite language directed by Judy Hegarty Lovett who is internationally renowned for her innovative stagings of 11 Beckett novels. In a simply told and hauntingly powerful encounter, this tour de force performance by Conor Lovett is complimented by the live musical performance of one of Ireland’s premier traditional musicians Caoimhin O’Raghallaigh (The Gloaming) on hardanger d’Amore. Not to be missed!

"Apart from its considerable other virtues, this stage version of the novel, stripped to the essentials but retaining the best of Melville, can be seen as a kind of gift to English majors everywhere." The Boston Globe
