Your tour begins on the south end of the Mobile Convention Center (side closest to the cruise terminal and Gulf Quest Museum). Free parking is provided for you adjacent to the Convention Center on Water Street at the foot of Government Street.
Guided walking tours last approximately 45 minutes. Be prepared to walk approximately 8 city blocks. There are plenty of opportunities to rest along the way. In case of inclement weather, an indoor route will be provided with views of each site.
The tour begins with a stroll along the Mobile River then proceeds down Royal Street, the social and economic heart of the nineteenth century urban port, the second largest exporter of cotton in the Antebellum Era. There you will experience first hand the streets and locations where America's Mardi Gras traditions originated.
