Mobile CBMC - Hot Dogs at the Hank
Thu, August 10, 2017, 11:45 AM – 1:00 PM CDT
Our featured speaker for the February 9th CBMC sponsored Business Men’s Luncheon will be Lonnie Lundy.
Lonnie is on the staff at Cottage Hill Baptist Church here in Mobile, AL.
Lonnie was born in 1958 and grew up in Satsuma. He graduated from Satsuma High School and went on to the University of Mobile and the University of South Alabama. Lonnie was married in 1983 to Kathy Williams and in 1989 their daughter was born and in 1992 their son was born.
Lonnie started a cleaning service, bought and sold real estate, and in 1989 he began selling “Maid of Gold” cleaning franchises. In 1988 for a period of about 3 months, Lonnie got involved in a drug and money laundering conspiracy, and in 1992 he was arrested by the FBI for the 1988 crime. He was tried and convicted in Federal Court and was sentenced to two Life sentences without the possibility of parole, two 20 year sentences, and a 5 year sentence, even though he was a first time, non-violent offender. While in prison he received an associates of arts degree from Indiana University. Shortly after his sentencing he was divorced and lost all contact with his children.
By the grace of God, in 2013 after having served 21 years, he was released from prison, and since his release Lonnie has had the opportunity to share his story with thousands of young people and their parents in churches, schools, and businesses, emphasizing that there are consequences for every decision and choices that one makes, detailing the devastating consequences that he and his family have suffered as a result of his wrong choice back in 1988.
On December 5th, 2016 Lonnie was married to Sabrina Grant, a godly woman who has 2 children and who is a kindergarten teacher at Robert E. Lee School. He considers himself a blessed man!
I’m sure you won’t want to miss seeing and hearing what Lonnie has to share, so be sure to mark February 9th on your calendars to attend Hot Dogs at the Hank.
