Tinker London will be running a workshop on how to make small cheap speaking robots inspired by their Moanbot project.
Moanbot is a small intelligent English robot that moans according to the changes in his immediate environment. Just like the rest of us.
Often described as the "the study and design of intelligent agents, where an intelligent agent is a system that perceives its environment and takes actions which maximize its chances of success" the world of Artificial Intelligence is often the remit of academics or science fiction writers. What defines an intelligent system is often an awareness of their surroundings and a sense of timing.
Tinker London designed Moanbot to show that designing these types of systems can be accessible and the workshop will act as a launch event.
Moanbot’s intelligence and personality is supported by an electronics platform (Arduino), a few basic sensors (sound, light, temperature, accelerometer) and some very clever quips from an Englishman.
The workshop will focus on allowing people to build their own Moanbot, develop their own personalities both in terms of the Moanbot's reactions and it's design. This will be a hands-on session of 1 day run as part of onedotzero adventures in motion festival and hosted by the BFI.
The cost of tickets will cover all materials.
