PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The Missouri Association of Nurse Anesthetists is dedicated to the presentation of educational programs for CRNAs and anesthesia students to provide updates and review for anesthesia practice. At the conclusion of this meeting, the participant should be able to:

• List two common root causes of patient injury

• Understand how lessons learned from the aviation industry can improve patient safety

• Make a personal commitment to connect with and protect each individual patient

• Explain the link between Think-Feel-Say/do-Results

• Describe the amygdla hijack and the Drama triangle

• Appreciate the importance of creating a safe environment for the free flow of thoughts

• Discuss the prevalence of depression and suicide in SRNAs and CRNAs

• Identify risk factors that contribute to the development of suicidal ideation

• List appropriate suicide prevention strategies

• Identify resources for those at risk

• Appreciate pharmacogenetics and the implication to anesthetic requirement

• Support the requirement for reversal of neuromuscular blockade on every patient

• Discuss the effectiveness of cricoid pressure in reducing aspiration

• Describe where the Nurse Anesthesiology/Anesthesiologist concept arose from

• Understand the different courses of action that members of the profession may take on the Nurse Anesthesiologist concept

• Analyze branding and marketing concepts as they apply to anesthesiology professionals

• Use of Dexmedetomidine and Emergence Delirium

• Learn the basics of ultrasound diagnostic techniques to evaluate patients in the perioperative setting

• Learn how to apply diagnostic findings to guide clinical therapy

• Discuss trends of POCUS practice in anesthesia around the world

• Participants will understand the recommended peri-operative CIED safety procedures while using ESU in the operative environment.

• Participants will recognize adverse outcome possibilities related to ESU near CIED.

• Participants will review basic CIED settings related to surgical procedures.

• Review the CPC Program recertification requirements including Class A and Class B requirements, Core Modules, CPC Assessment, and 2-Year Check-In.

• Describe the path for CRNAs who have had a lapse in their certification to reestablish their eligibility for certification and reentry to CRNA practice.

This program has been submitted to AANA for 10 CEs including 1 CE Credit(s) in Pharmacology/Therapeutics

Cancellation Policy:

A full refund will be given if written notification is received at least three business days prior to the scheduled meeting. From that date until seven business days following the meeting, a 50% refund will be given upon written request. After the seven-day period, no refunds will be given. Registration fees cannot be credited toward future meetings.
