Event description

Description

The Museum of Architecture, the team behind The Gingerbread City, is bringing some gingerbread fun to Manchester this holiday season. Working with local practice Playground Design Studio and Manchester School of Architecture, they will be hosting a gingerbread skyline-building workshop as part of Design Manchester 2019.

On 16 November, come and hear from local architecture practices about designing Manchester’s evolving high-rise skyline, then come up with your own gingerbread high-rise building using a ‘kit of gingerbread parts’. Each kit contains enough gingerbread pieces to create a completely unique structure.

Workshops begin with a short introduction about the history of skyscrapers, the importance of high-density buildings and how technology and innovations included in skyscrapers are tackling the climate crisis. Then it’s on to the construction of your very own skyscraper as well as learning how to draw the plans and elevations of your structure.

*The ticket price covers the cost of making one gingerbread skyline for 1 child and 1 accompanying adult. All materials to make the gingerbread skyline will be supplied.

T&Cs

The workshop is suitable for ages 5+*

*Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. There needs to be at least 1 adult per two children present.

Gingerbread kit includes pre-baked gingerbread pieces, icing, candy, base, and packaging.

The gingerbread has been made in an environment that contains nuts. Some of the candy contains: cow’s milk, wheat, soy, and gelatin.
