Presentation: IoT and Security

Speaker Bio: Don Schleede, Digi International

Don Schleede is the Information Security Officer for Digi International, a Minnesota-based manufacturer of embedded systems, as well as routers, gateways and other communications devices for the Industrial IoT. He has 27 years of experience in high-tech security and has been with Digi for over five years. Prior to that, Don held positions as a developer, IT Operations Director and as an IT Architect.

Presentation: Converging PCI Compliance Across Traditional and Cloud Environments

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards can be mystifying and very confusing. This presentation hopes to help show some methods of segmentation and underlying concepts that will drive successful scoping discussions with a Qualified Security Assessor or Internal Security Assessor. As we have all seen, there is always a bit of grey involved when trying to interpret the PCI DSS for an environment, but 90% of that interpretation relies on how well one scoped their environment. Once one understands what is truly in scope for PCI, they can then work to apply the control standards to each element and how it achieves that requirement.

Speaker Bio: Ranae Moore, Target Corporation

Ranae Moore is a non-traditional, forward-thinking security professional who is passionate about exploring and creating innovative ways to apply security to modern infrastructure and architecture. She has 10 years of demonstrated experience in conquering challenges through collaboration and creative problem solving in various Information Security positions. Throughout her security career, she has earned a reputation as a thought leader and action-oriented problem solver in a vast array of business and technology areas and is respected by her peers as a specialist in her field. Ranae has advised teams on how to interpret and apply various Security frameworks such as NIST-800, 53, ISO 27002, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards along with audit based frameworks like the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Cloud Control Matrix and COBIT for risk assessments and evaluations. Ranae is currently employed at Target Corporation as a Principal Information Security Analyst. Since coming to Target, Ranae has helped to deliver strategic vision and forethought by driving key initiatives including PCI in the cloud, API security measures and visibility, and Infrastructure as Code security adoption, which have helped improve the risk and security posture of Target as a whole.

Are non-members and guests welcome at meetings and events?

Yes, we welcome individuals at large from the security community to join us for any of our events. We simply ask that, after experiencing personally the value of our community at two events, individuals consider joining ISSA for the additional benefits that membership provides.

Why do we have to register to attend meetings and events?

Besides assisting the board with planning logistics for our events, registering for meetings and events, then checking in when you attend, provides you with self-service documentation you can print out to support your CPE credits if you are audited.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, printed tickets are not necessary, you will still be able to check in. However, having a printed or electronic copy of your ticket does speed up the check in process.
