The Eleonore String Quartet will be joined by festival artist Tomomi Sato in sharing Antonín Dvorák’s beloved A Major Piano Quintet.

Hailing from all corners of the globe, members of the Eleonore String Quartet have appeared at such festivals as Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Yellow Barn, IMS Prussia Cove, Verbier Festival Academy, Rencontres Franco-Américaines, and the Kronberg Academy. Under the guidance of esteemed pedagogues Kim Kashkashian and Laurence Lesser, the quartet made its Jordan Hall debut in February 2018. Advocates of an evolving musical tradition, the Eleonore String Quartet’s members have also worked with composers Joan Tower, Jörg Widmann, Aaron Jay Kernis, Frank Ticheli, and Kati Agócs on performances of recent and new music. Eva Aronian plays on a c. 1700 Giovanni Tononi violin on loan from the Canada Council for the Arts. Tatjana Roos plays a G.B. Guadagnini (“ex-Kavakos”) violin of c. 1785, made possible by a London benefactor in arrangement with Florian Leonhard Fine Violins. Luther Warren performs on a 1767 José Massaguer viola loaned to him by Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute. Eunghee Cho plays on a 1930 Anselmo Gotti cello on loan from the Colburn Foundation. The Eleonore String Quartet is named after Eleonore von Breuning, Beethoven’s first love.
