With Senior Dharma Teacher, Larry Ward, PhD.

Saturday, January 18, 2020

9:00-4:00pm

Vista Buddhist Temple

150 B Cedar Road Vista, California (North County San Diego)

As we honor Dr. King, we understand that the sacred activism that he shared with Thich Nhat Hanh calls us to take an active role caring for our bodies, hearts and minds. We practice together to bring our best selves forward to encourage us through the new year and beyond.

Join us as we tend to the garden of our hearts,

A spacious day of healing, rejuvenation, and tenderness with the joy of beloved community, including MettaMorphosis and True Inclusivity Sanghas.

Activities will include:

Welcoming our ancestors, nourishing our bodies and minds, sitting and walking meditation, listening to the dharma, and optional healing offerings.

Please bring a sac lunch, meditation cushion, soil (a handful will be plenty) for ancestor ceremony and wrap for warmth.

Teacher's Bio:

The assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. changed Larry’s life calling him into community service, spiritual growth and planetary peacemaking. He became an ordained minister in 1972.

His intro to Buddhist practice began in Calcutta, India in 1977 but it wasn’t until 1991 when Larry met Thich That Hanh that this practice became the center of his life and service. He was ordained as a lay minister in 1994 in Thich Nhat Hanh's Plum Village Tradition and as a Dharma teacher in 2000.

For 50 years Larry has lived and worked in over 25 countries serving efforts toward spiritual awakening and community renewal.

His teaching, called, “Deep Buddhism,” is interdisciplinary, integrating Buddhist practice with neuroscience, trauma/resiliency work, indigenous wisdom and social imagination. His aim is to energize the Bodhisattva ideal through embodied Buddhist practice that supports the healing and transformation of societal karma at the deepest levels of body and mind.
