About this Event
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration commemorates the legacy of Dr. King and allows us the opportunity to reflect on his work in today’s context through engaging workshops, panel discussion and concert! The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration is an event focused on social justice and transformative change within a spiritual context. Held on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. while honoring those who carry his message and work forward in the present.
MLK DAY EVENT OVERVIEW:
SESSION 1 - Opening Prayer and Sound Healing Ceremony with Jason Holmes, host of "Courageous Conversations"
SESSION 2 - Racism and Reconciliation Roundtable with host, Orgena Rose and Panel of Guests:
Amy Nickerson - author of "How Do You See Us" host of the show by the same name, and wife of former NFL player, Hardy Nickerson
Dr. Brenda Combs - author of "Finding My Shoes", playwright, producer, host of Shero TV, Founder of the non-profit by the same name that feeds the homeless in Phoenix, AZ.
Monica Morgan - author of ABCs of Racism and Reconciliation, co-author of 3 additional book collaborations and workshop facilitator for today's workshop based on her book.
