Event description

Description

Make a difference this MLK Day with Congregation Beth Elohim (CBE) and Repair the World. Join us to: support youth poets, paint a mural in the synagogue, prepare food for a local pantry, and package birthdays-in-a-bag for a local partner in need. Our projects include:

Conversation with locally incacerated poets - This project is in collaboration with Free Minds and great for ages 15 and up. We will read poems written by local people that are incarcerated and then write comments and encouragement in colorful ink, literally “on the same page.” Those pages are then sent back to the poets. The impact is powerful and transformative.

Painting a mural at CBE - This project is great for young children! They will help paint a mural to brighten CBE.

Prepare packaged meals for people experiencing food insecurity - This project is great for ages 12 and up. We will package food to be distributed by The Campaign Against Hunger (TCAH). TCAH serves 30,000 people each month in Brooklyn and this project will increase their ability to fight hunger.

All ages welcome. The venue is wheelchair accessible.

If you have any questions or want to learn more information, feel free to email Riki Robinson at Riki.Robinson@werepair.org.
