Event description

Description

Volunteer with Repair the World by joining us to package necessary supplies and advocate for clients who utilize service with the Met Council on Jewish Poverty. Hosted by Union Temple, participants will take part in an advocacy project on access to food choice, package cleaning supply kits, assemble baby care kits, and learn about Dr. King's legacy.

The Met Council on Jewish Poverty serves over tens of thousands of clients throughout the city’s five boroughs. They seek to fight poverty through comprehensive social services while treating every individual with dignity and respect. They engage with a variety of needs from affordable housing, capacity building initiatives, career services, crisis intervention, and family violence services, to health insurance enrollment assistance, home care programs, home services, immigrant services, and kosher food distribution.

This is a family friendly event; all ages are welcome.

Shift 1 (10am-11:30am), Shift 2 (12:30pm-2pm) and Shift 3 (2:30-4pm) are suited for children ages 5-12 and adults of all ages.

Shift 4 (4:30pm-6pm) is open specifically to tweens and teens ages 12+.

Accessibility information: We'll be on the 1st & 3rd floors. Union Temple has an elevator and the building has a ramp for wheelchair access.
