Event Details

Join us in beautiful Duluth for this multi-day, hands-on, creative workshop combining traditional art media with digital photography, collage, and experimental video techniques. Learn how to remix images into new works of expressive media art in 2D, 3D, and 4D. Further your understanding of media arts curriculum development that uses tools ranging from personal devices to industry standard equipment in the unique setting of the University of MN Duluth. Workshop sessions will be held in UMD Studio Art Classrooms, Multimedia Hub Computer lab, and the Motion and Media Across Disciplines Lab / Video Studio! This is a great opportunity to construct ideas for your classroom that support learning environments to equip students for creative and 21st century fluencies! Mixing-Media Workshop Schedule:

Monday June 24 : 1pm-4pm at UMD

Media Arts Intro, Mixed-Media Collage and Image Transfer Techniques

6pm-9pm Dinner + Evening Photography by the Lake

Tuesday June 25 : 9am - 4pm at UMD

Morning Workshops: Graphic Design Text and Texture, Chromakey Video Studio

Lunch at Tweed Museum of Art on campus

Afternoon Workshops: Image transfer on Clay Demo, Storytelling with Experimental Video

Dinner + Evening on your own

Wednesday June 26 : 9am - 4pm at UMD

Morning Workshops: Media Arts + Mixed-Media Project wrap-up

Afternoon: Lesson Plan Brainstorm, Show + Tell Projects

Locations: Lake Superior shore, UMD Art & Design Classrooms, and UMD's Motion and Media Across Disciplines Lab

Pricing for the workshop is $155 AEM/NAEA members / $175 non-members. Please register by JUNE 3. Workshop Includes:

  • Monday evening dinner and photoshoot

  • Tuesday and Wednesday morning snacks/coffee

  • Tuesday and Wednesday lunch

  • All labs, instructor fees, and classes
