Share Mixed Media Art for Ages 5-18, September

Event Details

This is a weekly mixed media art class for ages 5-18. Each week we will create a new mixed media art project while simultaneously exploring mindfulness, creative flow, and self-identity in the visual arts. This weekly art class will also have the opportunity to collaborate on multiple community art projects throughout the year. This hands-on, project-based class that will engage children of all ages through choice based creativity and community collaboration. The curriculum will be based on standards of student-center learning, social-emotional pedagogy, inclusivity and the understanding of the relationship between art and activism. Workshops will meet 4 times each month beginning  September 10th and end on May 26th. Workshops can be attended on an ongoing basis or per class on a drop-in basis.

Sept 10: Mixed Media Art Journal: Notan Papercut Art
Topic: Positive & Negative Space
Sept 17: Mixed Media Art Journal: Found Objects + Watercolor
Topic: Shapes from the Natural World
Sept 24: Mixed Media Art Journal: Ink + Recycled material
Topic: Recycle, the very long life of an object

Mediums Covered: Encaustic, Paper Engineering, Printmaking, Ink Illustration, Watercolor and beyond!

About Noelle Correia

Noelle has worked for many years in the arts education realm developing a profound relationship with culture, creative expression, and child development. She works to convey the beauty and complexities of human nature using texture, pattern, and narrative elements throughout her work. Noelle's work further explores themes such as cross-cultural awareness, women's spirituality, and the botanical world through painting and collage practices. Noelle currently works out of her studio at the Tannery Arts Center and teaches Art for Adolescents at Santa Cruz Montessori school.
