Event Details

Welcome to the volunteer sign-up site for Mitzvah Day 2015! This day of volunteerism will bring together several hundred individuals from around metro Detroit to perform meaningful acts of community service on Friday, December 25th.

Please sign up for a volunteer project by selecting a "ticket" above for your preferred project. There are many different projects happening throughout the day, so please see the information by clicking on the gear icon for timing and a brief description of each project. Please note that some sites are a partnership between the Jewish and Muslim communities and will have both Jewish and Muslim volunteers. They are marked with [Interfaith] before the site name.

Check back often, as we will continue to add new sites over the next few weeks!

Note: All volunteers under age 18 must have adult supervision.

Contact Naomi Levine at nlevine@jfmd.org or 248-642-2656 if you have any questions.

Jewish Community Relations Council/AJC

The Jewish Community Relations Council/AJC (JCRC/AJC) coordinates the community’s public affairs agenda, builds ties between the Jewish community and the rich mix of ethnic, civic and religious groups in metropolitan Detroit, and provides a Jewish voice to the media, government, educators, organized labor and the business community. JCRC/AJC’s agenda focuses on advocacy for Israel, preserving America’s commitment to pluralistic democracy, civil liberties and social justice, and on building a stronger, more unified Detroit Jewish community. JCRC/AJC’s areas of expertise are in media relations, government relations, grassroots advocacy and coalition building. JCRC/AJC carries the dual responsibility of reflecting the Jewish community’s consensus while providing leadership in pursuit of traditional and contemporary Jewish values. It is both a gathering of activists and a platform for advocacy, agents of social change, and stewards of conscience. JCR/AJC serves as a catalyst to heighten community awareness, encourages civic and social involvement, and provides a forum to deliberate key issues of importance to the Jewish community.
