Shaping America’s Future Military – Toward a New Force Planning Construct

The Air Force Association invites you to a Monday, August 19th Mitchell Institute briefing with Mark Gunzinger of the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments to discuss his recent report: “Shaping America’s Future Military — Toward a New Force Planning Construct.” In drafting this study, Gunzinger assessed the effectiveness of force planning constructs harnessed by the Department of Defense over the last twenty years and options for a new paradigm to better align strategies and resources. As he concludes: “Creating a force planning construct that will help maintain the U.S. military’s comparative advantages in the future at the expense of preparing for the last war will require difficult choices. During the QDR, the Pentagon has the opportunity to take a different approach to force planning, one that will help create a new baseline that guides the development of its future force, rather than add another layer of planning priorities on top of existing guidance.”

We look forward to seeing you for what promises to be a most interesting dialogue.
