Event description
The untold stories of real and alleged Presidential mistresses are shared in this exploration of what it means to be “The Other” woman.

About this Event

An all female cast shares the untold stories of real and alleged Presidential mistresses in this timely exploration of what it means to be “The Other” woman. This poignant piece is inspired by actual people and chronicles the infidelities which have shaped our country’s past. MISTRESSES showcases multiple confirmed Presidential affairs and highlights others which remain only as rumor. This new American play blurs the lines our society draws between the political and personal, morality and indecency, love and lust. From a youthful Monica Lewinsky and her high-stakes relationship to Kay Summersby’s precarious romance with her commanding officer, this monologue play features women whose personal narratives rewrite history. Produced by The Infinity Theatre Group - which strives to create innovative, intimate and impactful live performances. Presented in partnership with The Metropolitan Playhouse and FringeBYOV.

Why should I buy tickets to MISTRESSES?

First, you should support FringeNYC and FringeBYOV as much as possible. Independent theatre is the lifeblood of the artform. It is an American Tradition as old as...Presidents who take a mistress! Do your part to ensure that theatre artists continue to have the ability to create within supportive spaces.

Also, our production stands behind the belief that indie theatre is a place where female perspectives should continue to thrive. Every character in MISTRESSES is a woman. Every part in our ensemble is played by an individual who identifies as a woman. Every word and every action the audience experiences are written/directed by a woman, too. This play is about women. This play for women. For. Every. Bitch. And for everybody else, too. If you want to support unique female voices in theatre, this is the FringeBYOV event you must attend! Our play showcases the consequences of the Old American Ideal: “Men Rule The World”. Our cast represents the promise of the New American Dream: “The Future is Female”.
