Presented by Coalition: Fund, Smart Grid Cluster & Energy Foundry
Once a month, entrepreneurs and experts gather around the lakeside conference table with bagels and coffee and talk about challenges that startups face. In February, we welcome Mike Stacey of VGSmartGlass to share his lessons learned of starting a cleantech company in Chicago.
What's more valuable than learning from your own mistakes?
Learning from someone else's. Mike will be covering the roadblocks he faced over the last few years and possible ways to avoid them. After the presentation there will be a Q&A session, so come prepared with questions.
Mike Stacey is Founder and President of ST Labs Inc. (formerly SmarterShade Inc.), based in Chicago, IL. ST Labs developed and commercialized a proprietary “SmarterShade” technology. The SmarterShade technology allows a user to make any window tint from clear to dark, for privacy, reduced glare and up to 30% energy conservation. SmarterShade experienced early traction in Europe and Japan for the technology and in July 2015, the company was acquired by VG SmartGlass.
VGSmartGlass is a startup member of the Smart Grid Cluster, a coalition of organizations funded by the Small Business Administration to assist early-stage energy companies with business development strategies.
Join us on Wednesday, February 22 from 9am to 10:30am for a presentation and roundtable about the rollercoaster experience of starting a cleantech company.
**Because this is a limited-capacity event, registration is open to founders and employees of startups only. Please note that the event starts promptly at 9am.
