What is it?

Each year, disasters around the world devastate millions of people. Many of the places where these disasters occur are literally 'missing' from any map and first responders lack the information to make valuable decisions regarding relief efforts. Missing Maps is an open, collaborative project in which you can help to map areas where humanitarian organizations are trying to meet the needs of vulnerable people.

This makes a lifesaving difference for disaster workers combating deadly health crises like the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa. And when Cyclone Idai hit Mozambique in March 2019, volunteers worldwide sprang into action to map affected communities and roads to support relief efforts on the ground.

Together with you we will digitally explore remote regions and map villages, roads and other geographical details that are not on a map yet! Thus, we make an important contribution to the implementation of global humanitarian efforts.

All you need is your laptop (please bring your own with you), a mouse and curiosity to support the most vulnerable through mapping. No prior knowledge is required for mapping.
