Event description

Description

SSI Columbia is proud to invite Yityish "Titi" Aynaw to campus. Titi is an Ethiopian-born Israeli model who won the title of Miss Israel in 2013 and who is a big figure in Israel's pop-culture.

Titi was born in the village of Chahawit in Ethiopia's Gondar Province. Growing up in Gondar Province, she led a "poor" but "often happy" childhood. Her father died a year or two after her birth and her mother died when she was 10 years old, leaving her an orphan.

In high school, Titi served as student body president, participated in track and field, and entered a national student film competition, winning first place. She later joined the IDF and served as an officer in the military police unit.

There is much more to Titi's story and she is coming to Columbia University to share it with you!

Location: Lerner Hall - Roone Cinema
