Description

Mislabelled & Misleading: Fur Labelling Problems in the EU Market

This will be a roundtable event at the European Parliament concerning the fur labelling and the implementation of Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 on fibre names and related labelling and marking of the fibre composition of textile products. It is hosted by Pascal Durand MEP (Greens/EFA) and John Flack MEP (ECR) and organised by Humane Society International/Europe, Four Paws International and the Fur Free Alliance.

The aim of the event is to bring together the various stakeholders concerned with the labelling of fur products. Representatives from animal protection NGOs will present the results of a recent investigation into the labelling of animal fur products in ten different Member States. Their comprehensive report highlights the inadequacies of the present labelling regime for fur products and failures of Member States to properly implement Article 12 of the Textile Regulation.
