Description

The 2019 Chicago South Side Film Festival presents Mirrors, a Science Fiction film written, directed, produced by Michael Wellenreiter.

When a WWIII defector and his dangerous clones plot global annihilation, an assassin and a pacifist rebel must team up to take them down in this sci-fi thriller.

Filmed in the retro style of early 1980s sci-fi thrillers and heavily influenced by gaming culture, Mirrors explores the corrupting effects of war. The action opening, joyously filmed with the tropes of that era, is soon complicated by an exploration of how a person who considers their actions "just" may end up losing their way. The question of whether artificial intelligence can be held morally accountable provides an additional layer to this theme.

Produced in Philadelphia, Mirrors reflects the diverse and eclectic talents of the city, in which indie films are often made by friends in an informal, collaborative environment.

After the film, Michael Wellenreiter will be available for questions from the audience.

The film is 90 minutes long and rated PG13.

Tickets are free, and seating is open.
