Event description
A sung celebration of the moods, landscapes, and sounds of urban, suburban, and rural life.

About this Event

“This Land Is Ours” features music by classic American composers, and also by immigrants, women, and other historically marginalized American groups. Pride, wonder, comfort, bewilderment, and excitement—regardless of what we feel, this land is ours. Composer B.E. Boykin, faculty member at Spelman College, joins Mirror Visions Ensemble to discuss her song “Secret”, a setting of Gwendolyn Bennett. Preceded by a 1:15pm tour of Afrocosmologies: American Reflections.
