Come attend Coastal Georgia Breaking the Cycle's second Miracles in Recovery Event at Lake Mayer this September!
As part of National Recovery Month and National Recovery Day we are offering another event for the Savannah community on Sunday, September 25th, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at beautiful Lake Mayer.
In developing these events we walk beside local recovery champions as they make decisions about how best to support long-term recovery for individuals, families and their respective communities as a whole.
Our goal is to support and build relationships and community connections in order to develop and promote ongoing leadership for the expansion of local recovery community organizations services and supports.
Abuse of tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs is costly to our nation, exacting more than $700 billion annually in costs related to crime, lost work productivity and health care.
“(We) are getting the message that addiction is a pervasive, yet treatable, chronic health condition from which people can and do recover,” said Neil Kaltenecker, Executive Director for the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse.“ We hope to convey to legislators and top policy-makers that addiction treatment works, and if addiction is treated, the cost to the State will be reduced.”
This four-hour message of hope will feature speakers who have broken the devastating cycle of addiction and their families. Other speakers will discuss resources available both locally and in the state. Lunch is included.
We hope to see you on the 25th so that we may continue to spread news about the Savannah recovery community.
