Description

Minority Innovation Weekend (MIW) is a weekend summit dedicated to aiding minority innovators launch tech-focused startups, highlighting emerging technologies that will have an impact on society, and showcasing tech startups that have a minority founder or co-founder.

MIW’s goal is to facilitate minority innovators with learning how to take an idea or concept and launch a tech-focused business. MIW will bring tech enthusiasts for a weekend of presentations, workshops, panel discussions, and more.

MIW Innovation Conference

The MIW Innovation Conference will feature three program tracks for attendee's to choose from.

  • Startup Fundamentals - The MIW Startup Fundamentals track will cover many of the steps required to take a tech-focused idea or concept and launch a successful company. The Startup Fundamentals track will give soon-to-be, new, and experienced tech entrepreneurs an opportunity to learn from experienced speakers in their fields. Startup Fundamentals will cover topics such as “Defining An Idea”, “Developing A Minimum Viable Product”, “Funding Your Idea”, “Investing in Minority Innovation” and more.

  • Hacking Health Equity Challenges w/ Technology - The MIW Hacking Health Equity Challenges w/ Technology track is designed for individuals and organizations from various fields interested in discussing and solving problems at the intersection of technology and healthy equity. This track aims to bring together individuals and work collaboratively to develop approaches to address health disparities in minority communities through technology. Attendees are encouraged to form groups to develop and present ideas. Following the conference, attendees can continue to work together to further develop solutions to address health disparities.

  • Cybersecurity - The MIW Cybersecurity track will assemble the best minds in cybersecurity for two days of insightful presentations and discussions. The goal of our event is to equip attendees with the knowledge to tackle current cyber threats and advance their careers.

MIW Innovation Marketplace & Pitch Competition

The MIW Innovation Showcase and Pitch Competition will highlight tech-focused startups that have minority innovators as part of the founding team and give those startups an opportunity to pitch for resources to help grow their startups.

MIW is open to ALL who are excited about technology.
