The Minnesota JCC Symphony Orchestra, formerly the St. Paul JCC Symphony Orchestra, is back in full form this season. Join us to celebrate the return of our beloved symphony, now entering their 96th season! This very special concert event will be the final concert conducted by our beloved Amir Kats, who has led our symphony for the past 10 years. Join us after the concert for a reception where we will honor his dedication and contributions to a decade of music at the J.

Concert Information:

  • Frederic Chopin, orchestrated by Alexander Glazunov: Military Polonaise
  • Peter Warlock: Capriol Suite
  • Intermission
  • Georges Bizet: Symphony in C Major

This concert features works that sparkle, dance, and are all re-imaginings of previously-composed music. Originally written for piano, Chopin's stately Polonaise was given a sparkly orchestration by famed symphonist Alexander Glazunov. Peter Warlock was a colorful British composer of the early 20th century; his Capriol Suite is based on tunes from a 16th century French dancing manual. Bizet created his Symphony in C by reworking a symphony of his teacher, Charles Gounod. The Symphony brings things full circle, as the orchestra performed it at their first concert with Amir Kats in December 2012.
