Everyone is welcome but space is limited to 75 people, MN Cider Guild members will be prioritized before general public.

Admission: a few servings of your favorite cider to share and trade

2:00pm Registration begins

3:00pm Welcome, Minnesota Cider Guild Board

3:10pm The State of Cider Apple Production

Presenters: Nate Watters, Keepsake Cidery; Gretchen Perbix, Sweetland Orchard; Peter Gillitzer, Milk and Honey Ciders

Engaging cider starts with high-quality apples. This panel will discuss the challenges and opportunities of growing apples specifically for cider production. An overview of existing growers, varieties, cultural practices and economics will be presented.

4:00pm Getting Cider into the Hands of Minnesotans: sales, distribution, logistics and marketing

Presenter: Tyler Melton, Libation Project; Nick Olson, Artisanal Imports; Mike Cunningham, Bernick's Distribution

There is a cider for every taste and a distribution model for every cider. In addition to producing great cider, how and who a cidermaker partners with may determine success. This panel contains a cross-section of sales and distribution experts across varied business models that will address how to get cider into the hands of Minnesotans (and beyond).

4:50pm The importance of trademarking your business name and your brand

Presenters: Debbie Morrison, Yellowbelly Cider/Sapsucker Farm

You have spent a lot of financial and emotional capital on the name of your business and brand. If it’s not protected by a trademark, you can easily lose it to someone else, and there is nothing you can do about it. This is a basic overview of trademark rules and the process for filing a trademark with the U.S. Patent Office and the State of Minnesota.

5:15pm Cider production at different scales: the vision, economics and logistics of making cider

Presenters: Colin Post & Steve Hance, Number 12 Cider; Jason Dayton, Minneapolis Cider Co; Adam Theis, Milk and Honey Ciders

Cider makers, marketers and drinkers have a golden opportunity; they essentially have a blank slate when it comes to producing, selling and consuming cider. Where we look for guidance and influence is as varied as the cidermakers currently operating in the Minnesota space. Join producers of vastly different philosophies, scales and financial models in a lively discussion on how they got to where they are and where they see the future of cider.

6:00pm Program ends and Cider Share begins

Bring your favorite cider to trade or share plus Milk and Honey Ciders taproom is open.
