Event Details

The Minnesota Board of Psychology is excited to host its 2019 Continuing Education Conference: Looking Ahead at Supervision: Post-Doctoral Requirements and Related Board Processes to be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Minneapolis Public Library.

This conference is being offered twice on the same day.  The content is the same for both sessions. You should only register for either the morning or afternoon session.  The morning session is from 8:30 - 11:00 (2.5 CEU’s).  The afternoon session is a repeat of the morning session and is offered from 1:00 - 3:30 (2.5 CEU’s).   Registration is required.  Please click the "Attend Event" button above for further details and to register.

This year’s conference will focus on supervision of post-doctoral applicants and meeting the Board’s supervision requirements.  Post-doctoral supervision is a fundamental and formative experience for applicants seeking licensure as psychologists. A good supervision experience develops an applicant’s competence, and the documentation of that experience prepares them for smooth sailing through the licensure process.

The goal of the conference is to provide knowledge and strategies about how psychologists can develop, refine, or maintain good supervision practices that will help their supervisees develop competencies while meeting Board statutory and regulatory requirements. The presentation will focus on Board rules and statutes related to supervision, ideas on how other practitioners have implemented those rules into their practice, and how the Board helps applicants navigate a post-doctoral experience that cannot be certified by staff.

Conference Objectives:

Understand Board statutes and rules related to post-doctoral supervision

Understand how other practitioners implement Board-consistent practices into their supervision.

Understand how the Application Review Committee reviews an applicant’s supervision files.

Understand how the Complaint Resolution Committee reviews supervision complaints related to supervisors and/or supervisees.

The intended audience is licensed psychologists, applicants for licensure and individuals interested in the changing landscape for the practice of psychology in Minnesota.

Registration is required .Please click the "Attend Event" button above for further details and to register.
