Event description

Description

Join MINN for a Talk and Tour of MATTER to get an in-depth look at the organization in a small group setting. The agenda includes an overview of the organization by Quenton Marty, MATTER President, and a private tour of their office.

MATTER is a nonprofit on a mission to expand access to health, next door and around the world. In 2000, Minnesota business owners Dennis and Megan Doyle started Hope for the City because they saw corporate surplus as an opportunity, not a problem, and decided to take action. It became their calling to get life-saving resources into the hands of people that could benefit, specifically people living in scarcity. Seventeen years later, they have evolved to be called MATTER. It’s a name that stands for what they distribute, but it’s also a call to action to create a world where we all matter.

As an organization, MATTER focuses on leveraging two of Minnesota’s biggest resources: incredible healthcare and bountiful agriculture. The MATTERbox healthy food program is expanding access to nutritious food for those in need in Minnesota, and inspiring kids in our communities to activate their families in healthy eating. Their international Hospital in a Box program's primary focus is increasing access to health care around the world by working with partners to equip developing hospitals and clinics with the resources they need to serve their communities. The Farm in a Box program works with partners and farmers in developing countries to establish sustainable farming practices and equip them with the tools they need to feed their communities.

The MINN Talk and Tour (T&T) is an opportunity for MINN members to gain first-hand knowledge of the workings of international NGOs in the state. The T&T agenda is simple. Employees of an international NGO offer a private tour of their facility and then field questions about their organization’s work and their office culture. While MINN T&Ts are free and open to MINN Members, space is limited, and registration is required. Please consider joining the hundreds of international professionals who already have a MINN membership. Click here to join. If you have questions regarding your membership write us at membership@minnesotangos.org.

NETWORKING OPPORTUNITY: There will be a networking opportunity following the Talk and Tour at Cooper Pub starting at 7pm. The Cooper Pub event is open to all who would like to network with the MINN community and MATTER staff!

WAITLIST: If this event is filled please sign up for the waitlist as we often ask waitlisted people to attend closer to the event.

QUESTIONS? Contact Emily Beltmann-Swenson, MINN Program Chair, at program@minnesotangos.org with any questions.
