Description


As public gathering places, churches are susceptible to a variety of safety and security situations, such as spillover from domestic violence. This one-day course can show you how to recognize threats, build a safety and security team, deal with difficult people and situations, protect your people from harm and protect children from predators.

You will learn:

*Best practices for utilizing volunteer church safety and security teams

*How to respond to an active shooter

*How to help protect children from predators in a ministry setting

*How to raise the bar in your volunteer screening process

(Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with donuts & coffee / Lunch & snacks are provided)

Cost: $75 per person (inlcudes one Guidebook per ministry + other useful tools & info)

About the presenters:

Bob Johnson served as the Director of Safety and Security for Christ's Church of the Valley in Peoria, AZ from 2006 - 2017. His core responsibility was leading a team of more than 350 staff and volunteers, ensuring the protection of 9 campuses with a total of more than 30,000 in weekly attendance.

For the past 47 years Mr. Johnson has been actively involved in both public and private sector security. Concurrent with part of this experience, he spent 20 years in the Arizona Army National Guard, reaching the rank of Command Sergeant Major. His military time culminated with assignment to the Arizona Military Academy where he oversees leadership and management training for the State's Officers and NCO's.

For 10 of his 23 years with the Phoenix Police Department, Bob was a Detective with the Organized Crime Bureau. He became proficient in complex multi-agency investigations,working side by side with the FBI, IRS, Secret Service, DEA and other agencies to infilltrate and unravel money laundering, narcotics, gambling, pristitution, fraud, murder for hire and many other state and federal crimes. Bob has also served as the Director of Security for Domino's Pizza's second largest franchisee and was responsible for 85 stores in Arizona.

In addition to his responsibilities at Christ's Church of the Valley, he actively assists other churches as they identify, recruit, train and deploy their safety and security teams. Since 2010, Bob has traveled the United States conducting safety and security seminars as well as threat/vulnerability assessments for churches.

Bob has been married for 46 years and has 2 children and 6 grandchildren.

Bob Wild served as the Director of Finance and Administration and Risk Management for two mega churches in the Phoenix area for more than 25 years: Vineyard Christian Fellowship and Christ's Church of the Valley. He has served on several boards, including the local Phoenix NACBA chapter, CCV Youth Sports, Inc., the largest nonprofit youth sports program in Arizona, and Financial Planning Ministry, a national estate planning ministry to the local church.

Bob wrote and self published an instruction manual for church planters called Growing Your Church From The Ground Up: The Corporate Side. Bob has been published in Church Executive Magazine, Christianity Today, and Group Publishing's professional edition for their Children's Magazine.

In 2009, Bob joined the team at Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company as the Sr. Director of Strategin Alliances. He holds degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin and a Master's Degree in Business. Bob has 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
